sOUTHINGTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Topping Out Ceremony

In the construction industry, a topping out ceremony is held to celebrate the last beam (or its equivalent) being placed atop a structure. Leading up to the celebration, the beam was stored outside the original library, which will remain operable until the new structure is ready for occupancy. This allowed young library-goers the opportunity to sign the beam before it was secured on top of the new facility.
