Jobsite Fencing Viewing Window

We’ve noticed many community members trying to get a glimpse at what is going on beyond the construction fencing. For those of you who are interested in what’s going on, whether you’re young or just young at heart, we’ve installed a viewing window on a section of fence. The windows are made of a clear plexiglass so that you can safely watch the building happen.

women in construction week

During Women in Construction week, which occurred on March 3rd-9th, our team's female leaders invited women from Central Connecticut State University's Construction Management program for a jobsite tour. The team also organized a children's Lego exercise where they had to construct models of the new library and a construction-themed book reading to a group of young girls.

Jobsite culture and safety

Safety is at the forefront of all Whiting-Turner projects. The image below is from one of the Southington Public Library team's construction site safety standdown. This is when the entire project stops work to gather to discuss a safety topic related to current work going on onsite - in this case, hand safety!

Southington High School Engagement

Students from Southington High School’s Tech Ed Program attended an information session on the construction of the new Southington Public Library. They were able to learn about the key players that work together throughout the design and construction process. Afterwards, the students were able to tour the new library.
